Our Story...
Her Story
Zach first got my attention in the engineering calculus class. He would get the highest score when everyone was struggling including myself. From time to time, I would see him around campus: running marathons, fastest biker I had ever witnessed, swim like a shark at the pool. Everything about him was so intimidating that I would not dare to approach him. Even when he tried to make conversation with me, I would make an excuse to escape. Being a student who sat in the back row, I would force myself to sit in the front row seats just to check him out.
A year later, right after our programming class, he asked me out on a dinner date, little did I know this ex-Navy guy had crush on me too :). I said “yes” in a heartbeat. I was so happy, it felt as if I was flying in the air. Right after I said “yes” to him, I got on my bike to go home, and did not even notice the stairs that were in front of me. I fell hard but could not stop smiling. Someone who saw me fall, walked by and said “it happens…love happens.”
Indeed love did happen as if it was a movie or a romantic novel. Soon after our first date, he made my world seem heavenly. My life was filled with love and affection, my home with fresh flowers, my bookshelves with love poems. The days seemed magical, and my life was as if I could become anything.
Over the years, Zach taught me a lot of things aside from Math, Science and Engineering. He taught me to always be selfless and do the right things. But above all, he has taught me “love”. Love that is pure and everlasting. Love that is unconditional. Love that doesn’t dissipate with time. Love that is eternal. Love that never fails. He conquered my heart with kindness, generosity and compassion. He set the bar for “love” so high that I could not have asked for a better life partner than him. I could not be happier than to marry my best friend who has been there at my worst. I look forward to spending many days, years with him even after death do us apart.
His Story
I met Sunita when I returned to the University of New Mexico. She was stunningly beautiful, sharp and full of confidence and determination. Education wasn't just a phase in life to her, it was a stepping stone. It was validation of one's potential, an indication of what one might be able to offer the world. Seeing the opportunities ahead through Sunita's eyes, I easily picked a career path suited to my temperment and abilities. I owe my career to her. Sunita was by my side through every one of my undergraduate engineering classes. Together we stayed focused and conquered class after class. We worked together, at the Minority Engineering Program, tutoring our peers in the classes we had completed and leading study groups. Over time the natural attraction and love I felt towards her was strengthened by a deep respect and admiration for her.
Since those days I have seen her grow in generosity and compassion as well as professionally. She has so many great friends, in no small part because she is so giving and full of love.
I couldn't be luckier that she returns my love and has carved out a special place in her heart for me. We have been a great team over the years and I couldn't ask for a better partner in life. I am looking forward to all that is to come and know with her at my side every challenge will be that much easier to face and every joy will be multiplied by her enthusiasm and love.
